Once Upon a Garden: A Thanksgiving Turkey with a Twist!
Saturday, November 21 | 10:00 AM
Fred Heutte Garden | Free Children's Program
Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and November's Once Upon a Garden is all about creativity, storytelling, and a little bit of nature-inspired fun!
We'll begin our morning with two delightful children's books celebrating the season, followed by a hands-on craft that turns one of nature's simplest treasures into a Thanksgiving keepsake.
This month, we're making pinecone turkeys! Using real pinecones, colorful feathers, and a variety of craft materials, children will create their own one-of-a-kind Thanksgiving turkeys to take home. Some might be silly, some might be spectacularly feathered, and no two will look alike! It's a wonderful opportunity for little hands to explore natural textures, practice creativity, and discover how everyday things found outdoors can become something special.
Always Free but Donations
Are Appreciated!!
At Fred Heutte Garden, we believe that connecting children with nature should be fun, imaginative, and accessible to everyone. Once Upon a Garden combines the magic of reading with creative activities inspired by the natural world, encouraging curiosity, confidence, and an early appreciation for gardens and the environment.
Our program is designed especially for preschoolers and younger elementary school children. No crafting experience is necessary, and we'll provide all the materials. Just bring your imagination and a willingness to get a little creative!
Admission is completely free, but advance registration is required because space is limited. Donations are always appreciated so we can continue to offer this programming.
